We feel that in addition to the personal encouragement we provide to our students at Heather Evans Dance, it is important that milestones in their dancing studies be recognised formally. This provides students with a sense of achievement and motivates an attitude of working towards a goal.
Exams and Assessments are a rewarding experience – an opportunity for your child to demonstrate their ability and be recognised for their personal achievement. Each candidate is marked on their performance of the syllabus and awarded an official certificate and report when successful in passing the examination.
Starting examinations at a young age is very beneficial as the student’s standard of dance continually improves. Examinations also greatly improve a child’s performance quality – dance is all about performing and the more practice students have at a young age the more confidence and pride they have in themselves. Exams at each level incorporate technique, style and presentation, rhythm and timing, vitality and sense of movement.
Examinations and Assessments at Pittwater Dance Academy are conducted independently by an appointed Examiner from either the Australasian Dance Association (ADA)- the longest established dance teachers association in Australia or The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) - the largest ballet examination organisation in the world.
Students gain a great deal from participating in the exams. There is a little extra work involved, however, the pride and confidence gained in the process is a great reward. Candidates will be marked on their grooming and it is important that students wear the correct uniform.
EXTRA EXAMINATION CLASSES
Solo presentation of certain exercises is required and it is very important that students are capable of dancing with competence and confidence - an extra class per week may need to be attended leading up to the exams.
